I have had an intense love of mathematics since early childhood and a love of computers since I was shown my first TRS-80 in middle school. I completed a B.A. in Mathematics at Swarthmore College followed by a lengthy career in corporate IT in New York City. While volunteering at a youth center called The Door, I realized I loved helping young people love math. I pursued becoming a teacher through a Math for America fellowship, which included completing a master’s degree at Teachers College, Columbia University and teaching both middle school and high school mathematics in New York City public schools. I moved to Chicago and joined a mathematics education project at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011. I continue to work part-time at UIC's Metro Chicago Mathematics Initiative while tutoring, studying, and coaching.
